In 2006 I discovered I had been poisoned by mercury. My bones, brain, kidneys, liver, ovaries, intestines and anus were in great pain. My cognitive capabilities as well as my lymphatic, autoimmune, and gastrointestinal systems were defunct. I made drawings and sculptures of the experience of this intoxication.
The drawing in this blog (2009) is based
on a vision of my body while meditating. It shows the state of the affected areas
three years after the cleansing process: thyroid, liver, ovaries (or perhaps
kidneys), vagina, anus and left thigh. In the vision, the colors were expressive
of the state the organs were in. After I made the drawing, I continued to work with my internal organs by knitting, crocheting, and tying yarns and ropes into three-dimensional objects. I felt that if I decided that the yarn - and the color of it - represented a specific area or organ in my body, I could massage this area or organ with my own fingers, as the fingers concretely massaged and worked through each inch of the yarn as I made the yarn form the organ as a piece of sculpture.
